TAPIOCA

Nearly every Tapioca card starts from the same premise: one character, clean anime-cel linework, cropped at the waist or just above it, erupting off a background made of coloured energy rather than any real place. No border. No frame. The card edge is where the momentum runs out. The register is almost always heroic-hype — fists up, grinning, mid-motion — and sixteen of twenty-five artworks are visibly kinetic even in stills. Two cards break the formula. OP05-119 is a pop-art halftone: graphic dots, decorative background, flat colours — nothing in it resembles the rest of the catalog. OP12-119p1 goes the other way: painterly, soft, almost watercolour-toned. Both read as deliberate gear-shifts. The formula is strongest when it's working.
