02 / A — The character’s story
The survivor behind the spectacle
How far can a pirate travel on the story others tell about him?
The story here runs through Cross Guild’s formation.
Roger’s ship
An unlikely inheritance.
Buggy begins as an apprentice with the Roger Pirates alongside Shanks before becoming captain of his own crew. His Chop-Chop power lets his body come apart and move in pieces, a fitting advantage for someone repeatedly forced to improvise an escape.
Impel Down
An escape becomes a following.
Breaking out of Impel Down brings Buggy a following among the prisoners. What begins as a struggle to get out becomes a source of influence, as other escapees give their rescuer a larger place in their story.
Cross Guild
The face on the organisation.
Buggy later becomes the public face of Cross Guild alongside Crocodile and Mihawk. His visibility gives him a new kind of prominence, even while sharing that stage with two formidable pirates makes the role less comfortable than it appears.
