Gecko Moria

In his youth, Gecko Moria was an ambitious rookie captain sailing the New World whose entire crew was slaughtered by Kaido in Wano. The trauma of losing his living companions shattered his resolve, leading him to believe that only an undead zombie army could venture into the New World without suffering heartbreak.

Operating from the island-sized ghost ship Thriller Bark, Moria used the Shadow-Shadow Fruit to steal shadows from visiting pirates to animate corpses created by Dr. Hogback. Though his plan to create the ultimate zombie warrior Oars was halted by the Straw Hats, Moria proved his deep loyalty to his subordinates years later by recklessly storming Blackbeard's stronghold to rescue Absalom.
