02 / A — The character’s story
The admiral who bowed
Who should justice answer to when authority has failed?
The story here runs through Dressrosa.
Fujitora
Power with a different measure.
Issho serves as Admiral Fujitora, wielding gravity through the Press-Press Fruit. The force he can bring down on a battlefield sits beside a concern that rank alone cannot resolve: what happens to the people caught beneath that power.
Dressrosa
A uniform beside a broken kingdom.
In Dressrosa, the Navy confronts the consequences of Doflamingo’s rule under the protection of the Warlord system. Issho’s position places him inside the institution whose arrangement helped that rule endure, making responsibility more difficult than simply defeating a pirate.
An apology
Refusing an easy victory story.
After Doflamingo’s defeat, Issho publicly apologises to King Riku and Dressrosa’s people. Bowing in his uniform makes the failure visible, giving the country’s suffering a place in the account of its liberation.
