02 / A — The character’s story
The ruler challenged at his stronghold
What happens when people who have endured a ruler decide to confront him?
The story here runs through the raid on Onigashima.
The Animal Kingdom Pirates
Power made into a system.
Kaido commands the Animal Kingdom Pirates through overwhelming force. His Azure Dragon transformation makes that strength visible on an immense scale, placing a seemingly unreachable opponent above those who would challenge his rule.
Onigashima
A stronghold over Wano.
Onigashima stands at the centre of Kaido’s hold over Wano. The island brings his authority and his crew together in one place, giving the country’s scattered opposition a destination for its struggle.
The raid
An alliance reaches the ruler.
Luffy and the allied raiders bring the fight to Onigashima and to Kaido himself. Their arrival changes the conflict from enduring his power to confronting it, forcing the ruler to face people who have chosen to act together.
