02 / A — The character’s story

The swordswoman learning what justice asks

How can a firm ideal survive an imperfect world?

The story here runs through Punk Hazard.

  1. Loguetown

    A purpose in every blade.

Tashigi wants famous swords taken out of the hands of people who misuse them, making her interest in blades a personal mission. Meeting Zoro turns that conviction into an uncomfortable rivalry, while her resemblance to Kuina gives their encounter a meaning she cannot fully know.

  2. Alabasta

A decision without a clean victory.

In Alabasta, Tashigi sees the Straw Hats help accomplish what she could not achieve through Marine authority alone. Letting them go costs her the satisfaction of an arrest, but acknowledges the people who actually helped save the country.

  3. Punk Hazard

    Protection before pride.

The children trapped in Caesar’s experiments give Tashigi a duty more immediate than settling an old rivalry. Working alongside the Straw Hats to get them to safety carries her idea of justice beyond recovering swords and into caring for the vulnerable.
